The Webinator™ Web Index & Retrieval System
The Webinator Web Index & Retrieval System is
a highly customizable package that allows a Website administrator
to easily create and deploy a high quality search interface to
collections of web documents.
With support for multiple collections, a single installation can
serve searches for many websites, or different areas within a website,
and a customizable thesaurus or synonym file allows users to find documents
even if the terminology they use is different from that on the site.
Webinator serves as an
example of the type of applications that can be built around Thunderstone's
Texis RDBMS and Web Script.
We believe the Webinator is the finest system of its kind in existence on
the Web and we would like organizations to try it out and see if they
feel the same way.
From the Administrator's perspective Webinator offers the following

Fully customizable search interface with XML and SOAP support.
Index multiple sites into one common index.
Detailed verification and logging of document linkages.
Index/update documents while database is in use.
Multiple databases at a site.
SQL query interface to the database for maintenance and reports.
Multiple index engines run concurrently against a common database.
Adobe Acrobat / PDF file support, with highlighting of hits
within AcrobatReader.

Webinator 6.1 includes these enhancements over 6.0:
Enhanced Microsoft Office Open XML support: The default formats
for Office/Word 2007/2010+ (.docx, .xlsx, .pptx
etc. files) are now supported more accurately.
Custom Suffix List: Customize search suffix processing
even further -- add suffixes for other languages.
Multiple rewalk schedules: Trigger a profile's crawl at
multiple times, tailored to your environment's needs.
Webinator 6.0 has many improvements, including:
XML output and SOAP API: Search results in XML are
available, for complete customization via XSL stylesheets. A
SOAP API makes automated searches easy.
Faster crawls: Support for HTTP/1.1 compression is
standard, which can speed up crawling and decrease
bandwidth.
Faster searches: New Categories Type setting improves
category searches in many environments.
Unicode support: International searches are easier with
the ability to ignore or respect accents, diacritical marks,
etc.
Meta search: Version 6 supports meta-searching of
multiple profiles, combining their results as if one.
Customizable Thesaurus: Search terms unique to an industry
or site can be added to aid users' searches, via customizable
thesauri.
Backup/restore settings: Version 6 can save and restore
all or some profiles' settings, making disaster recovery or
installation cloning easier.

There are four versions of the Webinator available. If you need additional
features or capabilities then the full Texis product is also available which
includes the Webinator application.
The File Format (Adobe Acrobat PDF, Macromedia Shockwave/Flash, and Word Processor) plug-in is included on all platforms.
It is not available for the free version.
The JavaScript plug-in is included on all platforms. It is not available for the free version.
All free and paid versions support SSL/HTTPS and spell-checking.
