Welcome to Thunderstone

Thunderstone Software LLC, develops and markets a suite of software applications and tools that search, manage, filter and retrieve information for individuals and global enterprises. A privately held company in Cleveland, Ohio, founded in 1980, Thunderstone has provided more than 400,000 search software licenses to corporations, government agencies, online service providers, Internet publishers and developers worldwide over the past four decades.

A Search Pioneer

Before Internet search was even a concept, Thunderstone product licenses were being embedded within OEM packages developed and sold by organizations who were pioneers in their own fields, including Wordperfect Corp., Dow Jones, C3 - Telos, SAIC, EDS and Novell Networks. The increased popularity of Internet search technology in the mid 1990s substantially raised Thunderstone's profile in large single-site applications. Thunderstone's search technology powers search applications for the eBay, QVC, Corbis, About.com and ZDNet sites for example. It is also used in-house for enterprise applications by the Associated Press, GE and many other organizations.

Continuing to Lead

Thunderstone remains dedicated to our mission of product-oriented R&D around advanced Information retrieval and management. Our steadfast, high quality, low-profile approach is intended to attract and retain a more discriminating, sophisticated client base. Many new vendors of retrieval technology continue to surface, but they don’t possess the extensive experience or the product depth and scope to deliver solutions as robust, reliable and well equipped as Thunderstone.
